Chemical Constituents and Components : Main chemical components are gingeole, zingerone, shogaol, zingiberene, cineol, borneol, phellandrene, citral, zingiberene, linalool, geraniol, chavicol, vanillyl alcohol, camphene and resin.
Action :
Gingerols:
1. It causes suppression of spontaneous Ca2+ spikes and isometric contractions.
2. It inhibits human platelet activation and aggregation.
3. It inhibits the growth of H. pylori CagA+ strains in vitro and contributes to its chemopreventative effects.
4. It significantly inhibits prostaglandin biosynthesizing enzyme (PG synthetase).Curing Diseases : 1. It is used in dyspepsia, diarrhoea, colic, flatulence, vomiting and nausea.
2. It is used in cough, cold, asthma and pharyngopathy.
3. It is used in cholera, elephantiasis and inflammations.
